Project 02:
Entrance, Living & Dining Rooms, Kitchen & Guest Bathroom

The brief for this full interior design & renovation project was to cohesively combine all five areas of the ground floor of this home, with a design emphasis on minimalist styling. A calm and uncluttered space that promotes a sense of tranquility was high on the list of requirements.

Due to space constraints, priority was given to functionality and practicality, with the use of multi-purpose furniture and hidden storage solutions.  Decorative accents are kept to a minimum, with only a few carefully chosen pieces that have a purpose or hold personal significance for this home's owners.

I was responsible for conceptualising and realising the design of all areas of this project.  This included the design of the kitchen, and the selection of furniture & décor items, windows/doors and window treatments, carpeting, flooring, paint colours, hardware, tiling and sanitaryware.

Examples of functional, multi-purpose design in this home include: the glass stairwell balusters & near-invisible additional safety gate; the bi-fold living room door; the entry-way under-stair storage cupboard; the extendable dining table, the rotating wood-burner that can be positioned to face either the dining area or the living area, and the swivelling lounge chair that can either cozily face the wood-burner, or can face into the living area, thus creating two different zones in a small space.

Additionally, I sourced the primary contractor, and provided project co-ordination of the contractors in the areas of construction, electrics, plumbing, flooring, heating, tiling, painting & kitchen installation.
